Mach #43 – And so I drove 40 minutes… January 14, 2009
Posted by Mach in Mach's Rants.trackback
… Just so I could go to a Gamestop in another town to buy a three year old game. Yeah, that was part of my day. Managed to get me a nice little haul of stuff these last two days. I have a lot to rant about this time. So get ready… This is gonna be a doozy… And our pictures here are WAY too tall. Now I gotta waste some space so I could push down this picture below this paragraph and stuff. Just so it would work. Kind of annoying, but hell, I get to just see how I could randomly ramble here and see if anyone actually reads it. It’s just a waste of space, but then again, you wouldn’t know anything I’m saying, unless you actually clicked on the link on the Backloggery to see what this rant was all about in the first place. Anyway, let’s get started!
This would be the nice little haul in front of my little gaming rig.
Let’s start with yesterday, shall we?
I was chilling at a friend’s place. He gets a call from another friend who works at a Gamestop in his area asking him to pick him up so we could all grab a bite to eat. Earlier in the week, I was talking to him about the artbook since I didn’t get one when I reserved on at the Gamestop I picked the game up at. He suddenly tells me that, “Oh, we gave those away when people reserved the game.”
o____o
What the hell. So I ask him to get me one. He said that they should have one in the “pre-order gifts drawer” and would pick one up for me. Happy times. So back into yesterday, he’s talking to my friend on the phone and said that they threw the book in the trash. He knew I wanted it, so he dug it out and it was perfectly fine. So win for me. Art book for free and I didn’t have to get it at Amazon either. The art looks amazing.
So the other part of the little haul I got. Going off the title, I drove about 40 minutes to two different Gamestops that are around my college. I check the first one, it’s a nice, large store. Probably one of the nicest ones I’ve seen. I located the empty box of the game labeled, “Beatmania Bundle”. This was the one I was looking for. Do I score on this attempt? Nope. Mach never gets any love. Go figure they can’t locate the damn thing. So they ask for my name and my number, and told me they’d get back to me if they found it.
But I don’t give up hope just yet! I have another one to travel to. So I head over to the other one, literally, not even 5 minutes away. A tiny, little Gamestop, but it’s function serves it’s purpose. When just browsing through the store, I can’t seem to locate the game anywhere around the store. While I didn’t find it there, I just so happened to find something else that catches my eye.
Taiko Drum Master.
Fuck yeah, Taiko Drum Master. Definitely considering that I could pick this one up as well. Just for the sake of having it. And if there’s a couple of the Japanese versions around the Internet, I’ll pick that one up as well.
Getting back to the task at hand, I decide ask the store clerk if they got it. I’m doubtful since I know that half of the employees at Gamestop are completely unaware of shit they have in the store. Fortunately for me, the guy was completely aware they had it, despite looking into the system for it, but quickly found the game in the back.

So a win for me! For something that I would have had to pay for about $85 online, I just picked up at Gamestop for $30. Total fucking win. Taiko Drum Master… I will be back for you… I promise…
While I’m done generally ranting about my day, it brings up another interesting thing that we should totally talk about here on the blog.
Hey, ranters! Give us a picture of your gaming rig!
Here’s my main one for my last gen gaming:
I have a couple more games, but they’re in another little cabinet. More or less, the one that I took the picture of my little haul on. More there. :3
Also, here’s my second gaming area in my house. This one is strictly for my Wii and 360. Mostly because I’m within range of my ethernet cable for my 360 and my Wii can get full signal strength.
Yes, my next-gen gaming section is in a kitchen my family and I don’t use (Our main kitchen is downstairs. This is the second floor. :3). So why not, right? I’m right next to a fridge full of drinks and food and it’s a nice, cool area to play in during the summer. And yes, Spectro, this is where I played Left 4 Dead with you that time.
As far as gaming updates go, I got OZ/The Sword to Etheria downloaded and burned. The game is pretty fun. Simple beat-em-up with nice little combo things. The game looks great, but it’s nothing special. I’ll probably play through this one and stuff.
Persona 4. Yes, I have a Shadow Teddie theme. I’m about to reach him in a couple floors. GET OFF MY CASE, NOI AND ENDASO. GAWD.
Anyway, I have to get some gaming done tonight.
Until then, later~

Sure wish I had a job. I can’t stand my TV. I wouldn’t mind a roomier TV stand, either.
You totally could waste a rant on this though. :3

I SEE SOMETHING.
In the shelves above your TV, you BLURRED SOMETHING OUT. I AM CURIOUS. What is?
REB JUST ASKED THE SAME THING.
IT’S JUST MY FRIENDS’ GRADUATION PICTURES. I JUST DON’T FEEL LIKE REVEALING THEIR IDENTITIES TO THE INTERNET, AIIGHT?
Fair enough. :3 Just curious!
Taiko Drum Master for the win!
FIRE HAZARD! What if the TV melts? D:
Awesome stuff Chao. I wish I had my own Games room…
