Ren #29 – We aren’t summer people. August 29, 2009

Apparently.
So yeah. Tales of VS. is out. And of course, like the cheap, inconsiderate, despicable, little asshole I am, I decided to attempt to pirate it. But that’s only because it’s not yet out in America. I had an extreme desire to play the game immediately, so I went ahead and downloaded the .ISO (basically, the game) and threw it on my PSP. I anticipated engaging in the game eagerly, but of course, my thirty-minute dream was crushed. Way to go, Namdai! Anti-piracy block things FOR THE WIN.
Custom firmware is an asshole. It hates me. And god dammit, Namdai USA, bring ToVS here already. I WANT TO PLAY IT OH SO BAD. And use my supercilious kung-fu combo. I’D LIKE TO CALL SENEL AND FARAH THE MISUNDERSTOOD HERO AND HEROINE OF THE CENTURY. (Although, that’s actually not the case at all.)
And also, I’m bringing a new review format to the table. Of course, my little brain has to work on it. Sit tight if you care enough to read my reviews. Meh, writing my reviews in my rants kind of defeats the purpose of my “Violin Grinding” category.
WHATEVER, someday.
Nana is sleeping, so I can’t call her and bother her.
Oh – before I start ranting about whatever, I’m planning on attending the New York Anime Festival next month, hopefully with Chao (Did I even ask you? I asked Ska, lawl.) and a few friends. THAT’S RIGHT, DEV NANA, WE’RE GOING. I’ve never really been to one before, so hopefully it won’t suck.
So after beating Star Ocean: First Departure, I decided to give Star Ocean 2: The Second Story a go. I’ve played it several times in the past, just haven’t actually gotten to er, get into it.
So my first day of college was yesterday, it was terrible.
Boring. as. hell. And the lone wolf in me just won’t die. I’M NOT EMO, just.. unmotivated.
But oh well, I just ordered my books. I really hope I get them soon, I should have done it before hand. SILLY FRESHMAN, I AM. I’m trying to find an anime club, but school just started, and so far, it proves to be rather difficult. But then, there’s a club fair on the 9th, so HOPEFULLY, I’LL FIND ONE. If not, I’ll just make one, lawl. AND WALK AROUND CAMPUS WITH PICKET SIGNS.
I don’t know what we’ll do, though. I GUESS WE’LL JUST WATCH ANIME, LAWL. Mix in gaming, of course.
Wednesday has to be the worst. I have a huge ass 5-hour gap between two of my classes. It’s all because I refuse to have classes on Tuesday. AND I NEED TO FIND A WEEKEND JOB, DAMMIT. Life sure is coming at me fast.
Anyway, I just made this post because there hasn’t been one in ages. We aren’t summer people, apparently.
I still haven’t gotten my laptop back, it crashed from a virus some time ago.
Hopefully, someone else will post soon.

Mach #61 – Dum Dum Diday August 8, 2009

Which is an awesome song by Renard, for your information. So making this a mini Claw Marks, I’m linking you to the MP3 for download, so here:

Anyway, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, right? Yeah, it has. I’ve looked in the recent drafts folder and found two rants in the works for both Reb and Ren, so anticipating when they’re gonna post it up as well. Honestly, I just don’t think I’ve had a lot to say lately. Haven’t really been beating any games, no real motivation to play anything at home, and since it’s Summer and I have that freedom, I’ve just been going out a lot. What makes it worse, I usually go out and just play video games with my friends, usually consisting of going to the arcade for a designated amount of time and then just playing In The Groove 2 at the arcade I work at. Ugh, I live a boring life.
Not meaning to take away content from Ren’s post or anything, but I couldn’t help but read ahead and see that she was planning to attend the New York Anime Festival. No, Ska never told me, but I believe Minty is going to that as well… I might call off that day to go and meet up with him, but sadly, I don’t plan to attend. Mainly because I heard from another friend that it’s basically an anime convention without all the frills of the typical anime convention. I’m not really interested, unfortunately.
What’s new though? Finally got a capture card the other week, so my days of ghetto streaming are now and forever done! Well, at least until I go to the 8 on the Break and stream there, but streaming has been going fairly well on my part without many problems as well. I’m currently streaming Tales of Vesperia since that’s deserving a long overdue
anyway.
What other horrible thing do I have planned for my stream? Sadly, Sonic ‘06. Yes, I’m quite aware of how bad this game is, but hell, I’ve sadly had Dreams of an Absolution stuck in my head these past few days and it’s contributing to the fact that I wanna see how bad this game REALLY is. Just gotta pick up a copy first and kill off the rest of my dignity in the process.
Work has been more or less blah so far. My schedule got changed, so I’m now working Fridays and Saturdays from 5-11, and Sundays 11-7.
There goes my social life.
As of now, I’m playing a bit of Final Fantasy V on GBA for the Final Fantasy Marathon. I’m liking this one quite a bit due to the job classes and stuff. It makes the game pretty interesting. I’ve beaten Final Fantasy I, so I could officially say I’ve beaten a Final Fantasy game now. Hopefully, I ‘ll get through this one swimmingly as well, but we’ll see what happens.
Apologies for this rant being all over the place. It’s what I get for typing up something at 5 in the morning. Damn you, sleep pattern. Damn you.
Until then, later~

Nana #1 – Kaikan Phrase August 4, 2009
Posted by Nana in Nana's Rants.6 comments
Hihi, Nana here! ^-^ Well, as you can probably see… I’m new to the DRE crew. I don’t play games. Actually, I don’t really like playing games, I have a good reason for that, if you could call it one. Anyway I will be doing manga reviews considering I just love reading manga. I mostly read shoujo. This first post is about… *drum roll please* KAIKAN PHRASE, also known as Sensual Phrase. It is about love, romance, music, and sex. This manga isn’t finished but there are quite a few chapters published. The art is… well, okay. No one sparkles. They should, though. -_- Now on to the review!
SELECT STAGE #3 – Kabuki Quantum Fighter August 1, 2009
Posted by Rebel in Rebel, SELECT STAGE.5 comments

Remember back in my last SELECT STAGE post on Life Force, I said that NES games weren’t big on story? Well, they weren’t, but some of them had awesome premises that are barely passable for any game in our current generation. Well, how does this sound; you’re a military soldier, volunteering to have your brain transformed into raw binary code to combat the viruses in the Main Defense Computer; Earth’s last hope to survive… as a kabuki! Most producers would turn down a premise like that without hesitation, but if any of you think this is interesting, read on for a brand new SELECT STAGE post about…
The Filler Arc R2: Season Finale August 1, 2009
Posted by Arc in Arc's Rants.8 comments

Well, this is it. This marks my last traditional post on DRE. You’re heartbroken and you’ve got questions, I know. Stop those tears and read on.
I’m not flat-out leaving or anything. I’m just migrating over to a new blog, Board the Platforms. As you may or may not have known, Arc was set to join DRE. That’d make eight people here. Count ‘em. Eight people, one blog. Talk about crowded. Granted me and Mach are the only ones who usually update more than once every week or two, but still. That’s a bit too cluttered if you ask me.
That got a train of thought rolling and eventually the idea of starting another damn a group blog came about. Thus, Board the Platforms was born. Myself, Arcadios (Arc), BluFin (Blu), Linkman (Chris) and Zeta. The two main reasons I’m moving from DRE to BtP are 1) I figure this will be in everyone’s best interests (DRE goes down to 6 guys instead of going up to 8, so hopefully that encourages the other DRE ranters to post more now that I won’t be around), and 2) Chris, Zeta and Arc are all long-time friends of mine… and I mean long-time. “Years-before-The-Backloggery” long.
Yeah, I know I could do like Noi and post on two blogs, but I’d rather just stick to one and one alone, otherwise I’d no doubt resort to making copypasta posts down the line. As per Mach’s decision, all the content I’ve provided for DRE will remain intact. Rants, reviews, all of it.
If you’ll think back to the intro of this post, I said “last traditional post.” Mach’s got some ideas cooking for guest articles or something of the sort, so I doubt this is the last time you’ll see my post here period or anything.
Anyway, all that said… So long, DRE. Don’t be strangers, okay?
Originality is not my specialty so have some stale copy pasta.
Later, DRE. It’s been fun.
