100 Things
What’s this? 100 random facts about the bloggers! This is going to be a long one, so be patient. Some interesting stuff in here, nonetheless. A deeper insight into the lives of… well, us.
Mach (Blog Co-Founder / Ranter) – NJ
1. My depth perception sucks. Try driving with me one day, I absolutely suck at judging distance.
2. Despite my horrible depth perception, I’ve only gotten into two accidents. Both of them were low speed. One of them was me backing into my friend’s car at my graduation party (Good bye half my graduation money… ;_;)
3. I’m 20, work at an arcade, and attend college (university for you out of US people) where I’m majoring in Print Journalism.
4. About half of my first year of college (university), I was a Physical Therapy major with a Psychology track. Pretty extreme change, huh?
5. Like Len’s number five, my memory sucks as well, but the stupidest things will stick out in my mind like a sore thumb. I swear, I still remember the cabin number I stayed in when my familiy and I went down to South Carolina when I was 6.
6. I love video games, and despite what my parents say, they’re a part of my life. I doubt there’s anything they could do to get me off of them.
7. My love for games also spawns into my love for RPGs. Which in turn, leaves a huge backlog for me since I never seem to complete any of the RPGs I play anyway. I fear that the ending might suck. ![]()
8. I love playing First Persoon shooters, but I suck at them. Horribly.
9. If you know me well enough, I’m a huge rhythm game fan and despite having little to no knowledge or experience playing the game, I could pick them up quite easily.
10. I’ve been playing Dance Dance Revolution for about 8 years and In The Groove for about 4 years. Why do I separate them? In The Groove came out in 2004. In terms of difficulty, they’re completely different.
11. To this day, I still play the two games religiously.
12. I also play a bit of Beatmania IIDX, but I’m getting better at it. Yay 7s and 8s.
13. I think my life has been pretty sheltered. It wasn’t until this recently that I started traveling a good distance of places with my friends.
14. About number 13, most of my friends from high school and I never traveled very far, we always stayed in the vicinity of our area and never did anything “extreme”. With my college and arcade buddies, I’m traveling through places in Jersey that I haven’t traveled before and I’m loving every minute of it.
15. Regards to the last two, I finally found an awesome group of friends recently that share the same interests I do that I couldn’t find with my high school group of friends. They all love gaming, music games, and eating.
16. In regards to number 15, I LOVE eating.
17. Noting back to the last one, I’m a pretty big guy, but people think I’m skinnier than I look.
18. Back to number 16 again, my friends know me as a speed eater since I’ll finish ages before they ever will.
19. Despite my love for eating, I don’t have a whole lot of stamina to eat with. I usually get full very quickly.
20. I honestly would like to meet some people I meet online in real life.
21. Moving on, might as well talk about my music tastes. I love video game sound tracks and stuff, but I swear that I’m the only one out of my high school group of friends that liked dance music at all.
22. Honestly, with music tastes, I was always stuck in the middle. One group liked hip-hop, the other liked rock. I was stuck in the middle.
23. If you’re wondering, I like listening to a lot of dance music. Drum’n'Bass, breakcore, Gabber, Hardcore, Trance, Rave… That kind of stuff.
24. A good majority of my music has come from this guy. Listen to his stuff, it’s pretty damn good.
25. I’m not a furfag to go as far as saying that I’m a furry.
26. I do have a furry character though.
27. In regards to 26, the furry character is used in random stories I write.
28. If you’re wondering, it’s a wolf. Wolves are awesome.
29. I generally don’t mind the furry community (who am I to judge what you’re into), but I do know someone at an arcade I go to who’s an open furry. He’s really fucking annoying.
30. I love writing, but I hate reading.
31. I can’t be bothered to read a book.
32. Going back to music, I was completely involved in music at my high school.

40. I can’t be bothered to get into a relationship right now.
41. I will freely give my heart to someone, but I don’t think that will ever happen since that person is currently in a relationship and I think we’re stuck on that friend level.
42. I hate being at that friendship/brother state in relationships.
43. I used to be into anime, but haven’t watched anything as of recently… Almost for about a year now.
44. I used to be an administrator at National-Anime until someone there fucked it up for me and everyone else with some sort of position there as well.

58. I hate hot coffee, but I love iced coffee. Especially with hazelnut.
59. Despite being Asian myself, I hate knowing too many of them. I’ve always believed that if you meet one, they’ll introduce you to two more, who in turn will introduce you to another two, and then that’s a shitload of names you have to remember.
60. Did I ever mention I have a bad memory? I’ve known some people my whole life, but I still forget their names.
61. I’ve been an uncle for as long as I could remember.

2. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist. When I get into doing something [as an example... web layouts, or graphics, and the like], I REALLY get into it. I usually won’t stop until I’m completely happy with the results. If I don’t finish and try to do something else, I actually get drawn back to finish the task.
3. I’m generally lazy, but I love to go out.
4. I’ve had several email accounts since my first. I don’t even remember how many several of them I don’t think I really even used. Lately, I’ve gone through one Gmail account per year, almost. The reason for recent switches is getting totally inundated with junk mail.
5. Similar to email addresses, I’ve had 3 or 4 [or 5?] cell phone numbers since I first bought a cell phone.
6. I got my tongue pierced when I was 18. It took me about 3 hours to eat a can of chicken noodle soup the next morning. I took it out because of surgery [see #8], and never bothered to put it back in after.
7. I’ve had a bunch of other piercings too helix on both ears, eyebrow [twice], and an industrial. The last one hurt a LOT. I don’t have any of those anymore, but would consider doing them again.
8. I had ‘emergency’ lung surgery in August 2007. Part of my right middle lobe was removed.
9. I also had my appendix removed when I was 18. It ruptured on the surgical table.
10. When I was younger, I loved to do ‘magic tricks’. While I’m still interested in the topic, my views have changed, and I’d rather not call it ‘magic’.
11. I’m a gamer at heart. While I don’t spend nearly as much time playing video games as I did when I was younger, I still love to play.
12. I’m hopelessly romantic.
13. I have a terrible time reading in a moving vehicle. It’s sickening. Quite literally.

18. I don’t have the tube anymore. They took it out 2 weeks ago. Freedom!

21. I’m a self-proclaimed officer of the Grammar and Spelling Police.

26. I get really bad acid reflux sometimes. The only thing that seems to help is Pepto-Bismol.
27. I’m multi-lingual I can speak English and French, as well as some Spanish. While my Spanish is very rusty, I can understand it more than I can speak it. I’d love to learn more.
28. I’m currently trying to get Japanese under my belt. I’ve been picking it up fairly well recently, but I still don’t remember enough to speak it, for the most part.
29. The farthest I’ve ever traveled was to New York City, in May 2001. Next farthest was Montreal in 2002. Other than that, I’ve only been out of the province one other time to Quebec City.

41. I’ve only been on two roller coasters in my life; both at Canada’s Wonderland. I always chickened out until a school trip in my final year of high school.
42. Every time I see the number 42, I think of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s the Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. …I always thought there was something fundamentally wrong with the universe.
43. The roller coaster that was to be my first was arguably the most intense one in the park. It hurt I recently had my helix piercing, and the ride rocked my head back and forth, knocking my ears several times.
44. My iTunes library/iPod is filled with soundtracks to video games, movies, and musicals. The only non-soundtrack music I have in there is Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill.
45. My heart belongs to music.
46. Often when listening to music [usually when sitting on the bus], I start to pick apart the songs. I’ll often put a single song on repeat, and try to listen to each instrument’s part in the song, and marvel at how cool it would be if I could play
it in a band/orchestra.
47. While I live in ‘Greater Sudbury’, I’ve never actually lived in SUDBURY itself. I’ve had homes in Whitefish, Lively, Naughton, Azilda, and Garson.
48. I have an awesome sense of direction.
49. I tend to have a short attention span. Unless… refer to #2.
50. I love downhill skiing. I got a new pair of skis for Christmas a couple of years ago, and got to use them once that winter. They’re still sitting at my friend’s house. I’d love to get them back though, and ski this winter.
51. I’m 23 years old, and I don’t even have my G1/learner’s permit. I really should get around to that.
52. After my prom, I went [in a suit] with my date to Tim Hortons, where we had doughnuts and coffee around 1am.
53. I’m terrible at saving money. I love to spend it.
54. I’m Fucking Matt Damon. Or rather, I’d like to be.
55. I find it very difficult to fall asleep when someone else is beside me. I sleep best alone in the bed. This is sad.
56. I can’t stand strawberries, and most things flavoured as such.
57. Even though I’m 23, I often get carded when buying alcohol or cigarettes. Sometimes even lottery tickets. Apparently I look that young.
58. I don’t have any tattoos, but I’d consider getting one [or more].
59. I’m pretty empathic, though not by choice. If I’m around people in a crappy mood, it rubs off on me. Same goes for excitedness.
60. My sleeping patterns are either of two extremes. I’ll sleep a LOT [12+ hours], or very little [3-4 hours]. I rarely just get a regular amount of sleep.
61. This could be due to the fact that I like to take naps. Usually an hour or two in the late afternoon.
62. As crazy as it may sound, I actually like shopping during the holiday season. There’s something… festive about it all that just makes me feel good.
63. In high school, our music/band teacher told us a story about one of his previous bands. They were on a trip, and came across another band about to play the same song they had been working on. There was a twist though this other band knew the song so well, that they used it as a showpiece. They’d pick a random crowd member to ‘conduct’ the piece, and regardless of how bad they were, the piece would go off without a hitch. When my teacher’s band saw what was going on, they shooed him up to do the job. He knew the piece well, and as they went through it, they actually started to follow his direction instead of playing it on their own.
Three or four years ago, I went to my music teacher’s new school to see their Christmas concert with Raven. Partway through, they had a door prize draw. Raven’s ticket was drawn! The prize? Conduct the band’s next piece! To this day, I regret not trying to steal the spotlight, so to speak, and bring the story full circle. I did buy both of our tickets, after all!
64. I love fried foods. Even though they’re not good for you.
65. I don’t like most seafood. While I love fish, I don’t like things like mussels, shrimp, or squid.
66. When listening to music, the last song I hear is often stuck in my head [even for days at a time] until I listen to a new song. It’s a vicious circle.
67. I have terrible luck when it comes to winning prizes. The only two things I can recall winning are… A radio contest [call in and be caller #4! or something], in which I won a copy of Stadium Arcadium by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a ‘Pick 3′ lottery game that won me $367.
68. My uncle was player number 68 for the Hamilton Ti-Cats in the CFL for several years. He’s a high school teacher now.
69. I rarely ever watch TV. Most [if not all?] of the shows that I DO enjoy watching… I download the next morning and watch in HD on my computer.
70. I can tell the difference between 1% and 2% milk.
71. I’ve converted to whole/homo/3.25% milk. It’s way better.
72. I’m terrified of dentists.
73. Several years ago, I started working/writing for a gaming and news website. A couple months later, the site closed for a reimaging and opened under a new name. However, several months after THAT, a lot of the staff broke off and created another website. After several years of trying to get it off the ground, it finally died. A few months back the webspace just vanished, as it wasn’t renewed, and everything was lost. [Upon further inspection, it seems that the reimagined site is no longer around, and neither is the 'shrine' to the original.]
74. I love to cook and ‘invent’ new things.
75. I’m not a huge veggie eater. I don’t like most vegetables; some exceptions are carrots, corn, peas, and potatoes [if those count].
76. I don’t understand the hatred for ‘New Facebook’. It’s way more functional than the old version, and way more streamlined.
77. I also don’t understand the love for useless Facebook Applications. Granted, I have one or two of them, but there are people who basically LIVE on Facebook, playing whatever games [or whatever] all the time.
78. I like my coffee sweet. I don’t often drink coffee, but on a night ‘excursion’ a few weeks back, two friends ordered coffees from Tim Hortons. Large, three cream, seven sugar. I had to try it. I fell in love.
79. My LiveJournal now [as of the time of this post] contains one thousand, seventy-one entries. To be honest, that’s way more than I thought. I created the journal on July 29, 2002, under the name ‘vanillapocky’. I changed it to ’sousuke’ a year or two ago because it was shorter, and I wanted a change.
80. I refuse to wear socks to bed. It just feels weird.
81. On a similar note, I sleep with a body pillow. I find it incredibly hard to sleep WITHOUT something between my knees. If I can’t find a body pillow, I usually use two extra pillows: one between my knees, and one in my arms.
82. I only recently started using AIM again. I used to use it a fair bit, and basically stopped for a few years.
83. I often find myself thinking about the most mundane things. Sometimes, I feel like this.
84. I bought a PS2 game [Persona 3: FES] the week it was released. I’ve heard awesome things about it and wanted to play it. It was released April 22, 2008. It’s been sitting on my desk since then. It’s still sealed. I think I might start it today.
85. I generally like to keep my desk area clean and organized, but it never seems to last more than a day before degenerating back to a mess of junk.
86. I reformat/reinstall my OS fairly often. I don’t really like doing it, but once I start, I’m usually set on finishing the job. I don’t do it so much anymore, though only when it’s needed.
87. I’d love to get myself a Macbook or a Macbook Pro.
88. I have a weakness for iced tea. I’ve been attempting to create my own recipe for a year or two. It’s still not perfect.
89. I used to drink copious amounts of pop. Sometimes 3-4 litres per day. Looking back, I can’t believe I did. I rarely drink pop anymore just a can or two here and there.
90. I keep my ‘My Documents’ folders relatively organized. See?
91. Apparently I’m an andophile. I got the word from my friend Dani when I told her I want to date “someone who likes men, not someone who is gay.” I just call myself picky. Kinda.
92. I love gadgets. When something new and shiny comes out, I often have to have it. This doesn’t help my spending habits.
93. I only frequent a couple of forums, and I generally lurk. I’ve started posting more in recent weeks, though. It feels nice.
94. I don’t really have a favourite colour. I do like dark greens and blues, though. When I was a kid, my favourite colour was purple.
95. I’ve never had any qualms with Windows Vista. I’ve been using it on and off since the Beta stages, and haven’t really had any problems.
96. I love pineapple. It’s one of the few fruits I enjoy.
97. My tastes are very texture-sensitive. A lot of things I don’t like simply due to the texture. Shrimp is an example.
98. I’ve recently started in my 5th WhiteWolf game. I’ve used the same first name for my character through each game. His name is Adrien.
99. I’ve made several attempts at keeping a journal. The only one that’s lasted longer than a few days is my LiveJournal.
100. I didn’t think I would get through this list so quickly. I honestly thought it would take me a few days, but here we are at one hundred.
