Eden of the East is an anime that ran from April 9th, 2009 to June 18th of the same year.

It was created, directed and written by Kenji Kamiyama who is most famous for his Ghost in a Shell series.
The studio that handled Eden was Production I.G. It has helped in developing many series and films. Too many to count but the majority of the people here know it for being the animators of the Tales series when it comes to in game cut scenes. (more…)

A.R.C.: Eureka Seven-Pocket Full of Rainbows July 6, 2009

Eureka Seven was good enough to warrant a film due to it’s vast popularity both in Japan and everywhere else that has any amount of credibility.
That’s about all I got to say.

Eureka Seven is TV anime produced by Bones, that ran from April 17, 2005 to April 2, 2006. Being 50 episodes long.

After 3 years, Bones decided to make a film out of it and entitled it Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows.

The film was directed by Tomoki Kyoda, the same person who directed the anime series.

First off, let me just say that K-On! isn’t for everybody. There are those that are very…expressive of their opinions so I’ll go with their terminology. K-On is considered moeblob. Ranks in there with moe shows like Lucky Star, Potemayo and various others. Lot of internet people play tough guy and give off this attitude that says “I only watch/play mature anime/video games for mature audiences such as myself” or some other shit head excuse. But people have their likes and dislikes, some more forward about it than others but oh well. I just ignore idiots who are still stuck having a one cell brain. To simply put it, Watch the shows you enjoy. It’s cool that other people’s opinion can have an effect on yours but don’t mirror their thoughts. Only peer pressured 13 year olds are incapable of thinking for themselves.

Alright, so that’s enough side tracking. Like I said, K-On isn’t for everyone but I enjoyed it enough to mention it in a paragraph every week in my Filler Arc posts. Now that the show over, it’s time for a wise and intelligent review. [/troll]

It’s a show about 4 girls being in a light music club. Not much to it, right?

K-On! Started out as a 4koma(4 Panel comic strip) manga back in May 2007. Written and illustrated by Kakifly and it falls under the demographic of Seinen (Surprisingly enough). Genres are Comedy and Music. Although I’d recommend it be put under Slice of Life genre.

Kyoto Animation, who have done Lucky Star, Kanon and CLANNAD plus many others, has made it into an anime which ran from April 3, 2009 to June 26. Spanning over 12 episodes and an extra. (more…)

Back in ‘95, shit was booming.

I was being introduced to anime. Now when you think about a childhood anime if you were born in the early 90’s, we all kinda have the same title in our minds. Dragon Ball Z.

Shit, I mean, if you were a guy and you didn’t know about DBZ, you were a loser. What do boys like? Macho fights, fuck yeah. Despite how shallow they may be and DBZ delivered. So what could America get their grimy fat sausage finger hands on to show love to the girls? Well, why not something with pretty girls who can show those sexist who’s boss? So Sailor Moon came up in their heads. DIC got licensing right and dubbed it.

Back then, I could hardly form an opinion other than “I like it” and “I don’t like it” and I didn’t even know what other countries there were out there but whatever. If I grew up with it, most likely I’ll like the dub compared to the original. Pretty Much DBZ Dub > Jap VAs but this time I decided to roll with the Japanese voice actors.

Sailor Moon started as a mini series that featured one of the Sailor warriors, Sailor Venus. The mini series name was Codename: Sailor V which ran from 1991 to 1997 created by Naoko Takeuchi. She then moved on to do the Sailor Moon manga which started February 1992 and finished in March 1997. An anime was quickly made right after the first month of release.

Running from March 7, 1992 to February 8, 1997, spanning over 5 different series and 200 episodes.

But in this review I’ll be talking about the original Sailor Moon anime. (more…)

ORIGINAL REVIEW DATE: May 4, 2009

Eureka Seven is a widely popular and praised mecha anime TV series produced by Bones. It aired from April 17, 2005 to April 2, 2006 spanning up to 50 episodes.

It has made itself into other types of entertainment as well including 2 mangas, a light novel, a series of video games and most recently a feature film.

I’m gonna do this review differently. I’ll individually rate each part of my reviews according to how I felt the quality was on each subject. I’ll still give my overall rating but this way it can be a little more detailed on each part. I’ve also decided to steal the “Character” category from Dan and Chris’ review. (more…)

ORIGINAL REVIEW DATE: April 22, 2009

So I finished rewatching FMP. Took me like 3 days, would’ve been shorter if it weren’t for some people bugging me and asking for favors. I was lucky enough to watch the DVDs the first time around and I recently got my hands on the Bluray copies. I try to make each rewatch more pleasurable than the first watch so being able to get better picture and sound quality was a big plus.

Originally an ongoing series of light novels written by Shoji Gatoh and illustrated by Shiki Douji which have been published since September 9, 1998.
It was been made into three different animation. Full Metal Panic! which follows the light novels. Then Kyoani took over as the leading studio for the comedy spinoff, Full Metal Panic? Fuumoffu and the second season of the main story, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. There have been also 3 different spin off mangas.
The first season is 24 episodes long originally airing on January 8, 2002 to June 18, 2002. The genres it covers are Action, Mecha and Romantic Comedy.

A.R.C.:CLANNAD After Story May 12, 2009

ORIGINAL REVIEW DATE: April 16, 2009

CLANNAD After Story is the continuation of the first CLANNAD anime. It aired from October 3rd, 2007 to March 26th, 2008 making it 24 episodes long.

Kyoani was the studio that developed the first TV anime and so decided to continue it straight after the first season’s success which ended August of 08. (I’m sure there were a lot of Haruhi butthurt fans)

In the Visual Novel, After Story is the direct continuation of Nagisa’s route. The only way to unlock it was to obtain all the orbs of light in the School Arcs and to finish Nagisa’s school route.

The genres are the same as the first anime. Drama, romance and fantasy.

Let’s do this. (more…)

Alright, OVA time.

This CLANNAD episode was bundled as an extra with the last DVD release of the original School Arcs of the show on July 16, 2008. Instead of having Nagisas a the main heroine it has shifted to focus on Tomoyo Sakagami.

Tomoya, Tomoyo and Sunohara all keep their personalities intact, Unlike in the movie but that was done by a different studio.

This OVA was animated by Kyoani who also did the first season and After Story.

Now for the review. (more…)

Another review after a long night of gaming and anime watching. This time I’ll be reviewing one of my Top 3 anime which I just finished rewatching a couple of minutes ago so this one may be a bit bias. I’ll also be taking a different approach with this review so bear with me. (more…)
