So it’s been a while since we’ve had an update… A long while for that matter. Lazy ass writers… Nothing to talk about these days? I suppose I shouldn’t talk since I haven’t had much to say myself. School is starting to become a real drag… And I still have to get that Dissidia review done for my school’s paper, so I guess I gotta start cracking on that.

It’s been tough trying to just get shit done lately… Kind of annoying since school is staring to kick my ass and I really have to focus on that, amongst other things now… But hell, it’s a drag, but at this point in my life I couldn’t be happier for reasons I can’t discuss here in this blog.

So what’s been up with me lately?

This god damn game.

So this game has semi-engulfed my gaming life. With almost 200 songs spanning over two discs, it’s a IIDX player’s dream game… Except it’s in pink. Apparently some people have a problem with this, but hell, I’m used to it. It’s a wonderful theme though. The game pushes the limits of many IIDX players and there’s just tons of songs to play. It’s fun as all hell.

Plus, lawl, Bad Maniacs.

Otherwise, nothing else from me. Except the fact that I have to save some money to get me some Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion and then owe a bunch of my friends presents… A lot of them… This includes my best friend, her brother and my own brother… And I have to pay a friend back for a plushie he got me while he was in Disney World…

And I seriously can’t wait for it to happen. I re-installed Safari to help out with something on my computer and I couldn’t help but notice all the old links I still had. This just so happened to be one of them. So for this post, I’m throwing it REALLY far back. So far, that this was the banner I used before Disc Read Error: Insert Disc 2 was revived. I forgot how simple the banner actually was. I actually like it a lot now that I think about it.

So significant Dissidia progress was made once I got home earlier this evening. Since it was my bonus day, I figured it would be a great day to go and level up the only character who seems to matter right now… Which in this case is Cecil. So in the course of an hour, Level 38 to Level 51. And I’m still nowhere near done with the game… Dammit. I’ll get this done within the next week or so. Definitely gotta take advantage of my Bonus Days more.

: Recently just beat Naruto: Path of a Ninja on stream. After I got that ONE combo I kept repeating, ever battle seemed easy. At that point, I just wanted to finish it up as quickly as I could. Otherwise, a very solid game. Even for a Naruto game, I liked this one quite a bit. The adventure aspect was actually pretty cool, but those traps plagued around the town can go suck a serious cock. I have NO idea how many times those things killed me. This village is WAY too protected. I’m working on Nartuo: The Broken Bond next. Might just have to start this one over because I have NO idea what the hell I’m doing anymore.

While I really have nothing else to say, I’m going to advertise for a bit. This could be relevant to people’s interests, so I suppose it’s worth posting. A friend of mine is selling off a couple games that he owns. He has a fairly good collection of NES, SNES, and PSX games, so check out what he’s selling and if you’re interested in something that he has, hit me up with a PM on the Backloggery, I’ll give you his e-mail so you could inquire stuff with him… Although keep your hands off of Suikoden II, Final Fantasy VII, and Brave Fencer Musashi. He has those on hold for me. Otherwise, I believe everything else is open to inquire about.

Have I bitched enough about my job yet? Nah, you could never bitch about your job too much. So, working Sunday, I’ve realized a couple things.

1. The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me as far as analytical skills.

For example, we have The Fast and The Furious: Super Bikes in our arcade. Two linked cabinets and recently the other one hasn’t been working all that great, leaving one machine in working condition. Like many of our arcade machines, the coin slot catcher has been on the fritz, meaning it just eats up tokens and stuff. I had numerous amounts of people come up to me and complain to me saying that the machine ate their tokens. From what I’ve observed, they only put it into the right slot. HAVE THEY EVER CONSIDERED USING THE OTHER COIN SLOT? THERE ARE TWO OF THEM.

Ugh… I happens on pretty much every game in the arcade…

2. People in general are just stupid.

Here, along with the arcade’s horribly tacky carpeting, is our Tsuguri cabinet. Some might know this game in English as Blade of Honor. You’d be amazed at how many people can’t play this game. As you could see here, the game uses the pedal to advance the game as well as defend and stuff. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLETELY IGNORED THE PEDAL AND STEPPED ON THE PLATFORM IN FRONT OF IT TO PLAY THE GAME. THE PEDAL IS THERE FOR A FUCKING REASON.

It just makes me think about how people’s minds work. And lawl for Konami making a better sword game than Ubisoft did. Lawl Red Steel.

Anyway, I picked up a couple of games over the weekend. Remember I mentioned that I wanted the Naruto games on the 360? I got em’. Both of them. I actually have to say, the games are pretty impressive. For being an anime game, they managed to make this one pretty good. You get to see the expansive landscape that is the Leaf Village and have the option of Japanese voice acting, so you don’t have to hear “BELIEVE IT” over and over again… Unless you have a serious boner for “DATTEBAYO” instead. I’m happy with the purchases either way.

I also picked up my third copy of Soul Calibur II. Had to replace my PS2 version a while back and when I discovered you could play it on the 360 as well, I figured to pick it up for the reason that I could practice for the arcade. I have like 12xx wins and 270ish losses at the arcade I work at for Conquest Mode, so yeah… I need to make my character tougher to beat.

Anyway, I like how everyone has been updating again. It’s refreshing seeing a new post every other day.

You know the Crush soda? I’d imagine people knowing them more for the orange and grape flavors. I was at my school’s marketplace buying some snacks and saw the strawberry flavored one. Tried that. It was… Interesting… To say the least.

So I’ve just been in a posting mood lately. Another person has requested to join in the blog, and I’m optimistic about this person joining. Mainly because this person is also responsible for helping out with our next theme and stuff as well. Which is also why I’d like to announce that, at the moment, I’m not accepting anyone else into the blog. As much as I like Backlog members participating in on this and stuff, I’ve just had too many people post in a one shot deal and never see them post again… You know, kinda like Noi and Minty on Slaves to the Grind.

But anyway, I’m about halfway done with my day. Currently in my Intro to Astronomy class, somewhat ignoring what my professor is saying. Which isn’t exactly the greatest thing to do at this moment in time since I feel this is the class I really need to pay attention to, but some room in the science building is popping popcorn. The smell is intoxicating.

It’s also almost the start of my weekend. I feel the need to buy another new game to keep myself busy (as if I don’t have enough games to keep myself busy already <.<). To be honest though, I’m not exactly sure what I’m feeling right now. Something quick? Something to last me several streams? … I just don’t know. Maybe a new fighter or something? I’m kinda just torn on what to get. I just have the urge to pick up something.

Sadly though, I’ve been feeling Naruto: The Broken Bond lately. I can’t exactly say it’s a horrible game since Metacritic actually averaged the reviews to 80. Which in my opinion is pretty damn good. Not many anime based games actually get good ratings these days, so I suppose I’m optimistic about it. I dunno, I suppose I’ve just had a thing for bad concepts lately? x_x

Dunno if that’s a good or bad thing… I also gotta figure out what I’m gonna do for my next article on my school’s paper. Maybe a review on a game? Perhaps Tales of Vesperia? Earth Defense Force 2017? I dunno.

I can’t really think right now… I guess that’s what I get for sleeping for only an hour? x_x

… Means a whole new slew of complaints from yours truly, as well as being able to update a little more often on some of the shit I want to do during the semester. Thursdays seem to be my longest days, so I can definitely blow a lot of time into making blog entries and planning out some attacks on my backlog as well.

School update? At the moment this sentence was typed, it’s 5:23 PM EST. I’ve been here since 9:30 AM for classes. One at 9:30, another at 12:30, and my most recent one at 2:00. I’m loving my first class because of how awesome the teacher is, I fell asleep through the next two and I have one last class in about a half hour. Sports Writing. Lovely. I just wanna get out of here already.

Anyway, gaming updates. I sadly bought Sonic The Hedgehog for the 360. Many know this game as Sonic 06. I’m damn well aware of how bad this game is and everyone, including myself, wonders why the hell I even bothered to get it. I can’t exactly explain why. I’m just really compelled to it though. Somehow I’ll finish this game.

I recently picked up Mass Effect as well. $10 on clearance at Target was enough for me to impulse buy it. I tried it once before after borrowing it from a friend, but it fell through after I got a little bored with it. Maybe if I spend a little more time with it, I might be able to get further this time. I’m willing to give the game a fair shot before I sell it.

I can’t really think of much else on my part though… I reserved Tekken 6 a while ago, but I’m kinda torn whether or not I want to get the fight stick with it. The Street Fighter IV Tournament Fight Stick is a nice piece of hardware and I’m actually tempted to pick one up myself after a friend of mine purchased it and I finally got to sit down with it myself. It would be great for when I get Tekken and stuff as well as other games.

I also plan to replace my Wii some time soon. After the disc catcher went to shit, the same friend who bought the fight stick, as well as a new 360 that day, was planning to sell his Wii as well. So I jumped on it before he decided to sell it to Gamestop. If he follows through with the $150 he said, I’d be getting a really good deal out of this. A Wii with Punch-Out!!, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Samba de Amigo. Quite possibly his controllers as well. So this is looking good.

Also, random question of interest. As I’ve mentioned before in a couple of entries, I now write for my school paper. I already told my adviser, that I was going to write a feature article about Gaming on a College Budget. As gamers who like to buy things cheap, I’d like some input about sites you go to and what you do to search for games, may they be old or new. Don’t go the common route either… Clearance Bin, Cheap Ass Gamer… I’m already covering that. I want some tips and tricks from the rest of you, if you would so nicely recommend me some more options and stuff.

So I’m finally down here in Murrland at the “lovely” Inner Harbor for Otakon and god dammit is it hot down here. Makes Jersey look really tame in comparison.

Anyway, we left my friend’s place around noon and got here at about 3ish. Somewhat lucky for us that we actually got upgraded to a suite instead of just getting a normal room, so that was a nice plus. We could actually save a fortune on food because we actually lucked out getting a fridge and a microwave in our room. So $1.19 Easy Mac for the win!

So what’s new with me? Being here at this convention actually makes me feel normal, hence the title and such. Honestly though, it was WAY too fucking hot today to be wearing heavy and dark costumes today. Not a lovely combination by any chance. Plus, the con hasn’t even officially started anyway, so why the fuck would you waste your costume today? Such a waste.

So the pre-reg line took about two hours… Sucked for one of my friends though since we waited in line that long, only for him to realize that he forgot his ID in his car. So he actually had to go back later that night to get his badge WITH his ID in hand. As far as unfortunate luck is going, the air conditioners in our room have been acting pretty shitty. It’s BURNING in this damn room. I don’t think I could actually stand much more of it at the moment. Both control panels have the ACs at 68, but I haven’t felt a god damn difference all day. FML.

I guess this con is a bit daunting for me since it’s my first time attending it. I’ve been hearing from everyone that you wait in line EVERYWHERE just to wait in line somewhere else, and on top of all that, the con is huge. I suppose I’m excited for it, but I guess I’ll have to do a bit of exploring first and get myself familiar with the convention center. I’m pretty excited though. I hope to find some good stuff in the Dealer’s Room which is probably one of the first spots I’m hitting when I get to the convention center later in the morning. I NEED SOME NEW SHIRTS ANYWAY. Hopefully limiting myself to 40 dollars on Day 1.

So what else? I’ll be meeting up with Kasumi, Ashe, and hopefully Kari at the con as well. All of them, hopefully on Saturday, Kasumi, maybe earlier. If anything I’m certain we’re doing that Saturday is that Tales of Panel. Why?

1. Kasumi actually wanted to go to that one. I have no objections since that’s actually the panel I met her at when I first met her at Katsucon.
2. One of my friends I went to college with is actually ON the panel. Since I haven’t seen her in ages, I’ll be dropping by to say hello and stuff.

Exciting, exciting stuff. I’ll probably be doing the DDR tournament as well tomorrow. Dunno if I’m gonna just do the Standard tournament or just suck it up and do the Heavy tournament. Whatever.
