Violin Grinding – Eternal Sonata October 4, 2008

Welcome to Violin Grinding! What is it, you ask? Why, it’s the gaming review section for ol’ Len-kun’s rants. I chose it because… well, if you knew the character Tsukimori Len, then you would know. LULZ. But it can also apply to this review, as well.

When I first attained an XBOX360, I was ready to jump into the next-generation of gaming. I wasn’t completely wrong.. though I wouldn’t call this new generation a step forward, besides excelling in graphics.

However, I DID have high expectations for my luscious Japanese role-playing games.  I mean, it’s a new generation. THROW SOMETHING NEW AT ME. Something amazing, something groundbreaking. Something that would make me yearn for more JRPGs of the next generation. That was it.. it was then that I saw Eternal Sonata.

“OH MY GOD!” I thought. I MUST have this game. It shouted to me.. and I yearned for it. I wanted to play it.. to enjoy it.. to rant about how godly these JRPGs on the next generation systems are. And so… I waited.. and waited. I waited from around November 2007 to August 2008 to actually obtain and start Eternal Sonata.

I hadn’t been lunging for reviews, since I’m not that kind of person. Actually, I had heard some generally good comments about it. I downloaded the demo, as well.. but when I had gotten my hands on a copy of the game, I figured I should just play it. I’m pretty lazy when it comes to demos.. (except when the Tales of Vesperia demo came out.. as soon as my friend told me about it, I gawked and turned on my 360 right away.)

Anyway, I was bored one morning.. pulled an all-nighter and honestly did not feel like sleeping. It was then that I saw my cousin playing the Eternal Sonata demo on XBL and it was then that I had decided to finally start the game. That was probably one of the biggest mistakes of my entire (gaming) life.
